Once a report is complete, the Ask about this contract panel beside the report (below it on narrow screens) lets you ask questions in plain English. The chat only knows about this one contract and its report, so the answers stay specific.
Type a question, or pick one of the suggestions:
Answers stream in as they are written and cite the clause they rely on, so you can check the contract yourself. Good follow-ups are the ones a careful friend who had read the whole document could answer: "Does the non-compete cover my existing clients?", "If they cancel after milestone two, what am I owed?", "Rewrite the suggested ask for the revisions clause in a friendlier tone."
Each review includes a fixed number of follow-up questions, currently 30. The count remaining is shown next to the chat box. When you reach the limit the chat closes for that review and the remaining questions are best brought to your attorney. Buying another credit does not add questions to an existing review; it pays for a new review.
A question whose answer fails to generate is not counted. Only questions that receive an answer are deducted.
The chat will explain clauses, compare them with common practice for US independent contractors, point out where the answer depends on state law, and suggest negotiation language. It will not tell you whether to sign, whether a clause is enforceable, or give legal advice. Like the report, it is preparation for a conversation with a licensed attorney. Nothing you type is used to change the report itself.
The conversation is saved with the review, so you can come back to it later. Deleting the review deletes the conversation too. See Managing your reviews.
