Submitting a Contract

Open Contract Reviews and click New review. You need at least one review credit; if you have none, the page tells you and offers to buy one. Submitting uses exactly one credit.

Contract title

A name for this review in your list, between 2 and 200 characters. Use something you will still recognise in six months, for example "Acme Corp. design retainer, Sept 2026". The title is also passed to the review as context.

Upload a file or paste the text

Choose Upload a file to drag a PDF, Word, text or Markdown file onto the form or browse for it, or choose Paste the text and paste the whole agreement. Limits and formats are in Supported files.

Include everything the client sent: the main agreement, exhibits, schedules, the statement of work and any policies incorporated by reference that you have a copy of. Buried clauses are exactly what the review is for.

Your state

Optional. Choose the US state you are based in. Some protections depend on state law, for example whether a non-compete is commonly enforceable, or whether a freelance payment protection law applies. When you share your state the review tailors its observations to it and still recommends confirming with an attorney licensed there. If you leave it blank, the report notes where the answer depends on state law.

Anything specific you are worried about

Optional, up to 2,000 characters. Tell the review what is bothering you: "They want to own everything I make, including my templates", "Payment is net 60", "I already have two other clients in this industry". The review pays extra attention to these points and addresses them directly.

You must tick the box acknowledging that the review is AI-generated, is not legal advice, and that you will confirm important points with a licensed attorney. This is not boilerplate: it describes exactly what the report is for. See Not legal advice.

What happens after you submit

If you uploaded a file it is transferred to private storage first, then the text is extracted and checked against the size limits. A review is created, one credit is spent and the review page opens with the report streaming in. The whole submission normally takes a few seconds; the report itself usually takes one to two minutes.

If the submission is rejected, the credit is not spent. Common reasons are a file with no readable text, a document outside the size limits, and an unsupported file type. The error message says which, and the fix is usually to paste the text or split the document.
